Second Meeting

So we had our second meeting last night... There was so much AWESOME info that I'll have to break this up into more than one blog entry. The thing that I'm most excited about is that we found out what work projects we will be working on! We also skyped with Eddy Morales who is one of the Orphanetwork people, I don't know his actual title... But anyway, he seemed super cool and passionate about his work. So anyways, he talked to us about Orphanetwork and also about the work projects that they've come up with us to work on while we are there. Here they are:

1. Installing Metal bars on windows to add security to the older kid's homes.
2. Building an office for the Psychologist
3. Building and furnishing a library/resource room
4. Furnishing and organizing the warehouse where they store all of the donations they receive.
5. Doing a spiritual gifts assessment with the older kids and talking with them about why its important to try and understand how God has gifted us.
6. One on one English lessons with kids
7. Help with lice treatments
8. Microsoft Excel lessons. Eddy said that he wants the kids to learn how to use things on the computer other than Facebook and Twitter....
9. Staff Training/watching over the kids while the staff is in training.

It was mandatory to sign up for the English lessons and lice treatments, which seriously, I deal with lice at work all too frequently so I know how to do that..... I also signed up for Spiritual Gifts Assessment, Warehouse organizing and Library building (in that order) so we'll see what I end up doing. I will write more about this meeting later. I've got this nasty cold and I'm so tired and cranky so I'm out for now....

A video

I was wandering around online and found my pastor's blog. I was looking through it and he had an entry about Nicaragua. I didn't really read the entry, but at the bottom there is a video of all the places and things that we will see. It's kind of a long and very unpolished video, but I'd encourage you to take the time to watch it to learn a little more about what I will be seeing there. One of the things that we talked about in our meeting a few weeks ago was that those of you who are supporting me are as much a part of this journey as I am. Part of the point of this blog is to involve my supporters as much as possible in this journey. I am getting more excited by the day for this trip!
